Bardon Hall

247b Simpsons Rd. Bardon. Entry from Bowman Park car park.

Full members are eligible to vote, and all social members are encouraged to attend.

As you would know our Club was decimated by flooding in late February this year.

Despite the wet weather, we had a great turnout again for the Anzac Day service we host with the Bardon RSL.

We appreciate your continued support in this time of limited amenities.

Flood Rebuild

Your Committee has spent many months dealing with our insurers, the builders (appointed by them) and our landlords Brisbane City Council and we are pleased to advise that the rebuilding has recently begun!

Although the flooding has been devastating it has given us the opportunity to soon bring our members a new fit out for our building. We are updating our disabled facilities, bringing back the kitchen, upgrading the bar and lounge area, and creating a new aesthetic through the changes in the carpets, wallpaper and furniture.

This has been a long process, including clearing out the flood damaged furniture & fittings, demolition of damaged walls, bathrooms etc, negotiations with the insurers and builders Rizon on costs, working with designers Paynters on the new plan and applying for grants to make up the shortfall.

Our local Councillor Peter Matic & our State Member Jonty Bush have been very

supportive. Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner also visited the Club in early March to see the damage.

Grants

Thanks to the hard work of our Committee Member Bruce and his partner Anne, for the extra work they have put in this year applying for flood grants for us. Without this additional money, we wouldn’t have been able to complete the rebuild.

Bruce Hill and Club President Gary Walker are pictured.

Over the past year, we have spent in excess of $100,000 to return our playing green to barefoot bowls standard. Our Greens Director Locky & Green Keeper Tony have battled rare pests as well as the flooding to improve

the green.

Luckily our coffee shop was able to continue trading and we were also able to set up a temporary bar in April. Thanks to all our customers for your fantastic support!

We have exciting new partnerships on board that will increase our value to the community.

We hope you continue to enjoy the club and make the most of the new facilities.

we are always looking for volunteers who are happy to help. Whether you can assist through your job skill set or would like to be involved at an event all are welcome. Please contact committe@bardonbowls.com and let us know how you can add to our community club.

We are your community club, come along support us and make new friends!
