Trevor Worth, Volunteer President
As the new President, I am providing a little more about me than you may expect in a profile due to the community club volunteer role it is, along with the particular challenges the club faces.
I have lived on Stephenson St overlooking the Bowls Club since 2007 with my wife and our 3 kids and you might see us at the bowls club, Bowman’s or other local parks with our children & golden retriever.
My background is in running travel businesses since 1991, specializing in turnaround management of loss making & deteriorating companies, or developing early stage brands into profit.
Our last family business was sold to RACQ, who I then joined as an Executive Manager for 4 years. This gave me insight into not-for-profit, largely tax free clubs (albeit big ones!) that make profits to support continual improvement.
During 2011 I had Hodgkin Lymphoma, recovered to complete remission and my wonderful wife Helen held a Yoga For Lymphoma fundraiser. I was asked to join the Lymphoma Australia volunteer board including its Treasurer in part, which I did for 3 years.
As a change of lifestyle following such an experience and since welcoming our 3 beautiful children into the world, I am now the owner/manager of our local family travel agency business Artisan Holidays, which enables me to provide everyday support for the bowls club.
So I am putting all my experience into helping the Bardon Bowls Club recover from its debt, engage with the community and ensure it thrives as a local hub for years to come.
