Roly Sussex Returns to Bardon Bowls Club for a Festive Evening of Language and Conversation

After a sell-out performance earlier this year, renowned Professor of Linguistics Roly Sussex is set to return to the Bardon Bowls Club on Wednesday, December 3rd for a special Christmas-themed event titled:
“The Vanishing Christmas Card, or Our Changing Patterns of Writing.”

In this engaging and thought-provoking presentation, Professor Sussex will explore how our writing habits have evolved over time, with a focus on the fading tradition of the Christmas card. Why have these once-cherished holiday greetings all but disappeared? And what does this say about the broader shifts in the way we communicate?

As always, Roly brings a mix of deep knowledge, wit, and warmth to the stage. Following the talk, attendees will have the opportunity to ask Roly their favourite question — about language, culture, or anything at all.

Remembrance Day Service

Ashgrove Bardon RSL sub-branch invites you all to attend the annual service, held at the Memorial Garden at the front of the Bardon Bowls Club. Service starts 10.35am and concludes at 11am with club open afterwards. Bancroft Roasters open for freshly brewed coffee.
